In an age of text messaging, Twitter, Facebook, and e-mail, we don’t receive as many letters and packages as those in previous generations. Still, there is something special about receiving a hand-written note or card or letter.

In the early days of the church, the apostle Paul penned many letters – they later became books in our New Testament. One such letter was written to his young coworker Timothy (a second letter would follow). In it, Paul gave Timothy instructions and encouragement regarding issues that were arising in the church. He wrote about things such as doctrine, leadership, gender roles, family matters, and faithfulness.
